Recession-Proof: Internet Marketing

Our economy is in turmoil, and layoffs are rampant. Budgets are shrinking in every category, leaving smaller businesses partnered with big-name brands high and dry. Normally, we’d be worried, but we think Internet marketing is here to stay. Along with health care (more stress, more illness), gambling (less money, more desperation), discount retailers (closed businesses, left-over stock), and a number of other industries, Internet marketing is recession-proof.

In traditional marketing, you have a series of experts craft the perfect message, put it in the right channels, and distribute the product in the best location at the best price. It’s a long, drawn-out process that takes weeks, if not months, of planning. Take all of the staff and external relationships necessary to make the process happen, and you have a huge investment in time and money, with no guarantee of success, especially when wallets are tighter than ever.

That’s not to say that Internet marketing is guaranteed success; if anyone ever tells you that they can offer guarantee results – run fast. However, Internet marketing is a much shorter process, with virtually no overhead, that you only pay for when successful, and can pull the plug on immediately based on real-time campaign measurements.
